Who Can Ride Macon County Transit?
Anyone requiring transportation in Macon County, North Carolina is eligible to ride MCT. We provide transportation for general purpose trips, medical trips, and almost any non-emergency trip destination.
What Hours Can I Ride Macon County Transit?
MCT Operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Please be ready for your ride at least 1 hour before your scheduled appointment. Pick-ups are usually at least thirty (30) minutes before your appointment time. However, clients should always be ready 1 hour prior to their appointment time. Out of county medical transportation will require earlier pick-ups.
Scheduling A Ride
Appointments are taken on a first call first served basis. Transportation requests that are scheduled in advance (prior to the day before) are preferred.
Request for transportation must be received by 12:00 p.m. at least one working day prior to the date of the trip that is within Macon County. A transportation request for Monday must be made by 12:00 p.m. the preceding Friday. If calls are received after 12:00 pm transportation will not be provided.

General Public Transportation is provided by MCT on a space availability basis only.

* Passes may be purchased from your driver or at the Macon County Transit Offices located at 36 Pannell Lane off Lake Emory Road in Franklin, NC.

- Sylva - $15.00
- Waynesville - $20.00
- Bryson City - $20.00
- Asheville - $30.00
- Clayton/Dillard - $15.00

Payment:
Payment for transportation on MCT must be made to the driver. Macon County Transit accepts cash, checks, or money orders in the exact amount of the fare. *Drivers do not make change.
One personal care attendant may ride at no charge. All others will be charged regular fares.
Cancelling A Ride:
If you must cancel a scheduled ride on Macon County Transit, please notify the MCT Office at (828) 349-2222 as soon as possible and at least one hour before your scheduled pick-up time. By notifying MCT early, you will allow us to provide transportation to someone else. |
