Our Mission:

The mission of Macon County Transit is to provide transportation services in an efficient, coordinated, cost effective manner that is responsive to the current needs of the residents of Macon County.

Our Services:

Macon County Transit may be able to take you to medical appointments, local shopping centers, work, Senior Center and other places. We have established routes throughout the County. Anyone requiring non-emergency transportation is eligible to ride Macon County Transit. Macon County Transit does not provide emergency medical transportation. As a department of Macon County we follow the County Holiday Schedule.

Public Hearing Notice

This is to inform the public that a public hearing will be held on the proposed Macon County Community Transportation Program Application to be submitted to the North Carolina Department of Transportation no later than January 27, 2012. The public hearing will be held on January 10, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. before the Macon County Board of Commissioners.

Those interested in attending the public hearing and needing either auxiliary aids or services under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) or a language translator should contact Kim Angel on or before January 4, 2012 at telephone number 828-349-2222 or via e-mail at kangel@maconnc.org.

The Community Transportation Program provides assistance to coordinate existing transportation programs operating in Macon County as well as provides transportation options and services for the communities within this service area. These services are currently provided using a fleet of vans and buses. Services are rendered by Macon County Transit.

The total estimated amount requested for the period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.
